No one was expecting any major changes or impressive new features with this year’s iPhone launch. The reason is simple: the smartphone market has reached its peak, leaving little scope for significant developments in the short term. Consequently, most people no longer feel the need to change their phone as frequently as they did a few years ago. Indeed, in everyday use, the difference between a smartphone and its successors is becoming almost imperceptible.
The launch of the new iPhones remains, however, a major and eagerly anticipated event. This year, the flagship model, the iPhone 15 Pro, hit the market with its usual tagline – often mocked by critics – of ‘the best iPhone ever made’, as well as a range of new features.
Ever since they first came out, I’ve always had a particular fondness for the iPhone Pro model – a choice I’ve rarely regretted. Designed as a compact smartphone, this Apple device promises exceptional performance. However, this year’s model, the iPhone 15 Pro, seems to offer very few changes compared to the iPhone 14 Pro, judging by the list of changes and my enthusiasm for upgrading my phone.
That said, it’s important not to put yourself in the shoes of a consumer who changes their phone every year – a practice that is far from common. Let’s put ourselves in the shoes of someone who owns an iPhone 11 Pro (2019) or even a Samsung Galaxy S10 (2019). The big question, then, is: is the iPhone 15 Pro worth the investment?
