The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is finally here, and we’ve had the chance to try it out. It’s not a major revolution, but there are a few ergonomic improvements worth highlighting.
The evolution of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra’s design is immediately apparent. The corners are now more rounded, and the bezels even flatter. The Galaxy S25 Ultra moves away from the angular look of previous Galaxy Note models in favour of a design more in line with the Galaxy S range. This consistency across the range appears to be a sound strategic decision for Samsung.
For users, what really matters is improved comfort of use. Compared with the Galaxy S24 Ultra, whose very sharp corners were uncomfortable in everyday use, the new model is more comfortable to hold. Admittedly, it is still a large smartphone, but it is easier to use over time. The Galaxy S25 Ultra measures 162.8 x 77.6 x 8.2 mm (compared to 162.3 x 79 x 8.6 mm for the S24 Ultra), but it is slimmer and lighter, weighing 218 grams instead of 232. This has a positive impact on how it feels in the hand.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra retains its stylus, a legacy of the Note range. The S Pen is now better integrated: it is more discreet, sitting almost flush when stored in its compartment, which makes it more practical. Gone are the days when the stylus stuck out and could fall out for no reason when you put it in your pocket.
The S25 Ultra’s screen has grown from 6.8 to 6.9 inches, but without significantly increasing the phone’s dimensions. This slight increase in screen size is welcome, and Samsung has managed to offer a larger screen size in a more compact design. The screen remains an OLED with a 120 Hz refresh rate, a peak brightness of 2,600 nits, and an anti-glare coating – nothing fundamentally new, but a formula that works.
• Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy (3 nm process);
• 40% larger vapour chamber ;
• 50 Mpx ultra-wide-angle lens.
We will need to test these improvements to better understand their impact, but they should enhance the smartphone’s overall performance.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra is equipped with the One UI 7 interface based on Android 15, one of the most interesting features of the new Samsung models. And the good news is that older models will be receiving this update soon, which means that the S25 Ultra may only stand out for a few months.
Artificial intelligence with Galaxy AI also brings new features, but a full test will be needed to assess battery life and overall performance.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra retains a 5,000 mAh battery compatible with 45 W wired fast charging (and 10 W wireless charging). Thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Elite’s 3 nm process, we can expect improved energy efficiency and extended battery life.
The price of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra remains stable compared with the previous generation. In Switzerland, expect prices to start at CHF 1,499 for the 256 GB version. You can also opt for models with 512 GB or 1 TB, which come at a higher price.
